Samuel Gaulai Misi, a convicted sex offender, had been riding his bicycle on the search for drugs when he came across the nine year old at Cairns Villa and Leisure Park, Mackay District Court heard. The pair had never met before.
He pleaded guilty to taking a child under 12 for immoral purposes, rape, two counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12 and five counts of failing to comply with reporting conditions.
He was jailed for seven years and declared a serious violent offender, meaning he must serve at least 5.6 years behind bars.
‘Daddy please stop’: Sick man preys on daughters for four years
A monster father who subjected his young daughters to years of sexual abuse, even when they begged him to stop, was given a reduced penalty because he told his wife to phone the police over his vile conduct.
By the end of the offending the little girls had been wearing extra clothing to bed and taking turns sleeping the farthest away from the bedroom door to avoid being molested during his night-time visits.
Mackay District Court heard the girls told him “daddy, please stop” but he persisted with his daily abuse, which occurred over two separate time frames – 2013 to 2016 and 2019 to 2020 – when the girls were aged between four and 11.
The man, 41, pleaded guilty to four counts of maintaining a sexual relationship with a child and was jailed for eight years with a serious violent offender declaration, meaning he will have to serve 6.4 years before he is eligible for parole.
‘Why did he choose me?’: Victim’s powerful letter to her sex attacker
A Mackay teen wrote a powerful letter to her sexual attacker – in which she said she felt “worthless and disrespected” – after he destroyed her life when he twice forced himself on her.
She now has ongoing “extreme nightmares”, feelings of worthlessness and said her life “will never be the same again”.
The pair had met over Facebook in 2019 and she ultimately began a relationship with his brother before he twice attacked her including using his body weight to hold her down in his car and pulling her by her hair into his bedroom.
The man, now 25, pleaded guilty in Mackay District Court to two counts of sexual assault, the second of which involved “significant violence” when he pinned her face down on his bed with his hand on her neck and he passed out.
He was jailed for two years, immediately suspended after the 362 days already served on remand, with a 2.5 year operational period, and placed on 18 months probation.
‘Don’t make me spank you’: Music teacher sends sexual messages to teen student
A Mackay music teacher sent one of his underage students disturbing and graphic sexual messages including what he wanted to do to her and asking how she wanted to lose her virginity.
The 40 year old will spend the next four months in jail for grooming the vulnerable teenage girl over about six months.
Mackay District Court heard Adrian Kenneth Douglas Redfern once touched the girl inappropriately during a private lesson at his home studio and said “see I touched you”.
The court heard he called her pet names and in one message wrote “don’t make me spank you” while in others offered to “buy her a clit pump” and “asked when she was going to try anal”.
Redfern pleaded guilty to child grooming and indecent treatment of a child. He was jailed for 15 months suspended after four months.
Jury hands down verdict for man charged over raping sisters

The offending occurred between December 2019 and July 2020 at Sarina and Grasstree Beach.
Mackay District Court heard he digitally raped one of the girls twice and even once threatened to “hurt” her if she told anyone – this indecent treatment referred to touching the other sister as she sat on his bed.
He had pleaded not guilty to the allegations and was found guilty. He was jailed for 4.5 years for two counts of rape and two years for the indecent treatment to be served at the same time.
He had already spent 411 days in custody on remand and can apply for parole after serving 50 per cent.
Stepfather jailed for shocking acts against young girl
A Bowen-region man who secretly abused his young stepdaughter in the family home for his own sexual gratification has been sentenced to six years’ jail.
The 37 year old was found guilty of 16 charges including rape, indecent treatment and maintaining an unlawful relationship with a child after a two-day trial in Bowen District Court that heard the man preyed on the girl over a number of years from when she was nine or 10 years old.
The abuse occurred when the girl’s mother was at work, and began when he asked the girl to wear a bikini around the home.
The court heard the man later began inviting the girl to shower with him, touching her inappropriately, and making her watch him perform indecent acts – all while the girl’s younger siblings were in the same house and, on some occasions, when a babysitter was in the home.
‘You took advantage of an extremely drunk woman’
A RoadTek Mackay senior supervisor raped and sexually assaulted a drunk woman during a party after cleaning up her vomit.
Graeme Wayne Webb had been well aware of his younger victim’s intoxication when he took advantage of her vulnerable state, Mackay District Court heard.
The incident occurred in 2019 in a Central Queensland town, west of Mackay.
She had been passed out in her room when Webb entered and started to clean up her vomit, including wiping between her legs and near her genital region.
The court heard he kissed her lips and her body before removing her clothing and underwear – he licked the woman’s genitals and anus before digitally raping her.
Webb, 62, pleaded guilty to rape, aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault. He was jailed for three years to serve nine months.

John Edwards James Wright met the child, who was aged three to five over the offending, at a lego hobby event in 2018.
The 63 year old then committed the revolting crimes at her Mackay region home that involved making the child touch herself as he took photos and videos of her genitalia.
Mackay District Court heard he made comments like “yeah beautiful” as he zoomed his camera in.
Wright pleaded guilty to 10 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12, nine of which involved videos and images and one of which involved actual touching.
He was jailed for two years wholly suspended after six months.
Father guilty of raping his daughter as she slept
A Mackay region father molested his young daughter twice as she slept.
She had been aged nine to 12 when the vile acts occurred at two separated locations in the region.
The Mackay District Court heard the first time she had been asleep on a couch in a caravan where they had been living on a property, while the second time happened in her bed at the home where they had been living.
He had pleaded not guilty to the allegations but a jury determined the now teen was telling the truth.
The man was jailed for three years to be suspended after serving half the time.

A man who sexually assaulted two women has paid his victims a whopping $50,000 each, although his lawyer argued it was not a move to “buy his way out of jail”.

Young girl exploited with ‘sex talk and a kidnap fantasy’
When police interrupted a man hanging out with a teenage girl at a park, they uncovered a “repugnant” case of exploitation.
It was October 12, 2019 and the man was on bail for prior offending.
Mackay District Court heard his phone had four posed images of an intellectually-disabled 15-year-old girl including in her underwear, nude and another exposing her genitalia.
Police also found four days of “sexualised messages” between the girl and a 24-year-old Mackay man.

Judge Brad Farr said the offence was so grave it would automatically attract jail time.
The 30 year old had become jealous when a female co-worker gave attention to another man – he followed her back to her room, which he barged into, and climbed on to her bed as she yelled for him to get off.
“(She) was kicking you and despite that you managed to remove her pants and her underwear,” Judge Brad Farr said.
The man pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault and was jailed for 15 months suspended after two months.

The offending occurred across 2017 and 2018 within the Mackay region when he was aged between 51 and 53 years old.
Over four months, John Roger Fahey groomed a young girl aged 11 to 12 over social media.
Mackay District Court heard he messaged the younger over social media calling her “sexy, hot, beautiful and pretty” and told her “he wished she was his girlfriend”.
His messages were overtly flirtatious, involved love emojis, sexual comments, provocative invitations “and repeated expressions of interest in acts of sexual penetration”, and were “plainly manipulative in character”. The other abuse involved the sexual assault of a girl in her mid-teens but did not involve skin on skin contact.
Fahey pleaded guilty to sexual assault and grooming a child under 16 years with intent to expose child to an indecent matter – he was ordered to spend three months of an 18-month jail term behind bars.
