A man has died after he was crushed in a horror tractor incident south of Mackay. Fresh details have emerged revealing how the sad situation unfolded.

A man has died after he was crushed in a horror tractor incident south of Mackay, with a family member out searching for him tragically coming across the heartbreaking scene.

The incident happened at Koumala on Saturday afternoon at a rural property on Thompson Rd.

Paramedics were called about 3.12pm following reports a man had critical injuries.

RACQ CQ Rescue was returning from a hospital transfer from Clermont when it was tasked to the scene of the incident.

An RACQ CQ Rescue spokeswoman said the man had been working alone on a tractor on a hill on the property more than 60km south of Mackay and didn’t return home at the expected time.

“A family member set off an hour later in search and tragically found the man crushed between the tractor and a tree,” she said

“It is believed the tractor came off the track and slid down a siding, pinning the driving against the tree.”

RACQ CQ Rescue landed on flat ground near the scene as paramedics performed CPR on the man for over an hour but sadly, he died from his injuries.

Police were called about 4.24pm to the address, but it is understood Work, Health and Safety investigators will take charge of the incident.
