A 16-year-old pedestrian is in hospital in a stable condition 24 hours after being hit by a car and striking its windscreen in West Mackay.
Three ambulances units were called to the shocking incident on Nebo Rd at the intersection with Duncan St on at 10.10am on Saturday and arrived about five minutes later.
A Queensland Ambulance Services spokeswoman said emergency services assessed one male patient at the scene who sustained significant head and facial injuries.
He was transported to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition.
The teenager remained in Mackay Hospital in a stable condition on Sunday afternoon.
The impact of the collision with the pedestrian left the white Toyota sedan’s windscreen heavily damaged.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said traffic was slowed on part of Nebo Rd during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.
