Receiving an overwhelming response from Daily Mercury readers, the region’s cutest babies competition unfolded as an epic week-long event.
With almost 70 votes, this year’s winner won by a landslide.
While there can only be one winner, truly all the newborns of 2023 are cuties, with infectious laughter, cheeky grins and big beautiful eyes which can melt the heart of anyone who catches their smile.
Stealing hearts across the region, more than 100 gorgeous bubs were nominated for the cutest baby, with six standing out among the rest, as voted by the readers.

#1 Parker Simpson
Parker Simpson has been named Mackay’s cutest baby with 66 votes.
His mum, Tah-Leah Bakker was thrilled to hear the news that her beautiful boy had received the title.
“We are all very surprised and excited that Parker has won Mackay’s cutest baby 2023,” Tay-Leah said.
“There were so many adorable contenders.”
Described by his mum as a true blue Aussie and a ‘real Mack-town boy’, Parker was born on February 27, 2023 at the Mater Mackay hospital and weighing at 5 pounds 4 ounces (2.4kg).
“He is a cheeky nine-month-old boy who loves swimming, being outside and playing with his new puppy, Rusty,” she said.
Parker is also lucky to have a large extended family and loves spending time with them, particularly his Nanny and Pop Pop.
“He helps his grandma in the garden, usually creating more mess for her to clean up, and loves going on walks with his dad and granddad.”
“He also loves watching his Uncle KJ play footy and Aunty Anna play softball.”
According to his mum, Parker is a mummy’s boy.
“His favourite person to cuddle and read books with is mummy.”
#2 Walker Brownsey
With 22 votes between them and first place, Walker Brownsey has secured second place for the region’s cutest baby of 2023.
Born ten weeks early on April 13, 2023, Walker was in a hurry to meet the world, according to his mum Danielle Brownsey.
“He has shown just how determined and strong he is and he is such a happy, alert, friendly cowboy baby,” she said.

#3 Luka Proctor
Coming in third with 33 votes, Luka Proctor wins the hearts of everyone he meets.
#4 Amelia Herekiuha
Receiving 19 votes, Amelia Herekiuha has claimed fourth place.
Nominated by her mother, Jess Martin, Tanna is described as being perfect baby girl, who is always smiling.
#5 Kaspian Moren
Receiving 18 votes, Kaspian Moren has tied with Samuel Rooney for fifth place.
Kaspian’s mother Emmy Camilleri — who nominated him — describes him as her ‘lil chunker’.
“He’s super chill, loves laughing and getting all the cuddles,” she said.

Receiving 18 votes and sharing fifth place with Kaspian Moren, Samuel Rooney is adored by many for his cute little smile and happy personality.
