Man taken to hospital after car crashes into tree at Marian

It was one of two crashes that kept Mackay paramedics busy.

Two people were taken to hospital following two separate crashed in the Mackay region overnight.

A man in his 20s was injured in a two-car crash at the Wood and Gordon Streets intersection about 7.11pm Friday.

He was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition, while paramedics assessed a second person at the scene however that person decline to be taken to hospital.

Four hours later paramedics were called to Marian after a vehicle crashed into a tree on Collett Court at 11.10pm.

A man was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Crash closes busy Ron Camm Bridge

A two-vehicle smash has closed two lanes on a busy north Mackay bridge.

The incident occurred about 3.20pm and blocked two northbound lanes on Ron Camm Bridge.

Fire, police and ambulance services were at the scene within 10 minutes of the incident being reported.

Police initially diverted traffic away from the scene, before they were able to open one lane.

The incident was completely cleared at about 4pm.

Paramedics assessed four people for injuries, with one transported to Mackay Base Hospital as a precautionary measure.

Fuel tanker collides blocks busy Erakala road

A fuel tanker and car collision blocked a busy Erakala road as emergency services secured the area.

Police and fire crews responded to reports the vehicles collided on Sugarshed Road near Glenella Road about 8.55am Friday.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said the vehicles involved were a truck and a car and that the truck “may be on its side” but appeared to have “minimal damage”.

Paramedics treated one person at the scene.

Initial reports suggested one of the vehicles was a fuel tanker.

Three-vehicle crash blocks bridge lanes

A three-vehicle crash blocked two lanes of a major Mackay road just after 5pm.

The incident occurred on Glenella Connection Road at Foulden, near the Edmund Casey Bridge.

All occupants of the vehicles were able to remove themselves without help.

Two ambulances are at the scene and are assessing two patients.

Both are in a stable condition, with one complaining of neck pain and the other of back pain.

Neither are expected to be transported to hospital.

Police and fire services are also at the scene.

Car crashes into North Mackay ditch

A car has veered off A major North Mackay road and landed in a ditch just as peak hour traffic began to pick up in the city.

A police spokesman said the incident happened near the intersection of Glenpark Street and Sams Road about 7.45am.

Reports indicate the man had been taken hospital in a stable condition.

The spokesman said traffic may be affected while tow trucks work to remove the vehicle.

Woman taken to hospital after crashing into power pole

A woman has been taken to hospital after her vehicle crashed into a power pole in North Mackay.

A police spokeswoman said the incident happened at the intersection of Malcomson and Willis Street about 2.45pm Tuesday.

She said reports indicated a 22-year-old woman was the driver.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a patient was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Six in hospital after two vehicle crash on busy CBD street

UPDATE 9AM TUESDAY: Six people have been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Mackay’s CBD.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said three adults and three children were taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition.

CBD rush hour crash closes main street

The crash happened near the intersection of Gordon and Wellington Street about 7.50am.

The incident closed both northbound lanes on Gordon Street for almost an hour as fire crews cleared the scene while tow trucks removed the cars.

Reports indicate traffic is flowing but one lane remains closed.

INITIAL 8.15AM TUESDAY: A two-vehicle crash in Mackay’s CBD has closed a popular route just as rush hour in the city kicks off.

A police spokesman said the crash happened at the intersection of Gordon and Wellington Street shortly before 8am.

He said Gordon Street’s northbound road was closed near the crash.

All people were out of the vehicles.

Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service were on scene.

Motorbike and car collide in Paget

A motorbike and car have collided in Mackay’s industrial precinct with at least one person being taken to hospital with paramedics assessing a second.

A police spokesman said the crash happened on Central Park Drive about 6.50am.

The spokesman said traffic was still flowing in the area and Queensland Ambulance Service was on scene.

A QAS spokeswoman said one person was taken to Mackay Base Hospital with minor injuries.

She said a second person was still being assessed at the scene.

Incidents from overnight Sunday

Critical care crews were called to a Mackay street after a pedestrian and car collided in the early hours of Monday.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said initial reports indicated a car struck a woman in her 20s on Malcomson Street about 2am.

She said the woman suffered hip injuries and was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a “serious but stable condition”.

Police are investigating the collision.

In an unrelated incident, a male in his late teens was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition after single-vehicle crash in Koumala.

The spokeswoman said emergency crews were called to Koumala Bolingbroke Road at 6.50pm Sunday.

A police spokesman said police were investigating the crash.
