A BUILDING thought to be close to 100 years old will be demolished to make way for a hairdressing salon, cafe and service station.
Operating as a general store, the building is located next to CRT on the Bruce Highway at Mount Ossa.
CRT owners Michelle and Adrian Zarb have been planning the upgrade for a while, Mrs Zarb said.
"The building would have to be close to 100 years old because my mum is 80 and she lived across the road and still remembers it,” she said.
"When we bought the shop 17 years ago we had to do other things. Finally, this is the last thing.”
A clearance sale is under way as they try to clear stock in preparation for the new plans.
"We're going to have a mini servo, cafe and a hairdressing salon,” Mrs Zarb said.
"We will need more staff.
"Our daughter is a hairdresser, so she will have that.”
At this stage, Mrs Zarb said, they planed to open Monday to Saturday.
The couple also owns the CRT depots at Finch Hatton and Farleigh.
It's hoped the new service station, salon and cafe will be open by the end of the year.
