A teenager who broke into a tradie’s home and attempted to steal a playstation before being run down by the homeowner armed with a large knife has faced court.

A masked Nasiah Sailor scaled the back fence and veranda railing of a South Mackay home on November 10, trying to force his way into the property.

A Mackay Magistrate revealed the 18-year-old attempted to steal a playstation placing it in his backpack before fleeing the scene.

Working only a short distance from the house, tradesman Darcy McInnes received a security alert and immediately rushed back, grabbing a hunting knife for protection.

The tradie then confronted the intruder before chasing him down, followed by his dog and a friend, who helped him make a citizen’s arrest.

The wild footage was captured on CCTV and shared on social media with McInnes even speaking on the Today Show.

Queensland Police were called to the property a short time after and arrested Sailor.

Sailor pleaded guilty in Mackay Magistrates Court to one count of enter a dwelling by break and commit an indictable offence.

Magistrate Damien Dwyer released the man on bail before listing his sentence for March 11, 2026.
