10. Mitch Wadsworth and Nicholas Beardmore combine for 8 wickets in Brothers’ win
It's hard not to say it but Mitch Wadsworth (4/25) and Nicholas Beardmore (4/41) were brothers in arms taking four wickets in the DBCT Cup. The pair was magnificent with the ball, playing a huge role in their team’s eventual win over the luckless Souths Sharks.
9. Kobey Sager adds 21 more to push further ahead in Division 1 league scoring for men’s basketball
Kobey Sager may just well feature weekly in this top 10 if opposing teams can’t find a way to stop the sharp shooter. The basketball star is currently leading the league in points and appears to show no signs of slowing down his hot hand.
8. Annaelise Wishart Scores 14 of 21 points for women’s Division 2 ‘Triggers’
Finding the basket in any league of basketball is difficult unless your name is Annaelise Wishart. Wishart scored 14 of her team’s entire 21 points to will them over the line for a three point victory in the women's Division 2 game.
7. MD Saints win by 48 points in men's Division 2 basketball
There's a win, and then there's this. The MD Saints basketballers in the men's Division 2 competition showed no mercy over their opponents, running out 48-point winners in a dominant display. With four out of five players scoring double digits, including a 22 point effort from Tyler Duck. the Saints now have three wins for the season.
6. Second leading batsman Adam Zurvas takes 4/11 to get his first wickets of the year
It turns out Zurvas is the jack of all trades. The Magpie batsman currently sits as the second best in the competition and when given three overs of bowling, I don't think even he expected to take four wickets while only allowing 11 runs. For Zurvas, this only adds to his case of being the best cricketer in the competition.
5. Jacob Anderson scores for Kookaburras against India
Anderson’s score in the 60th minute proved pivotal in the Australian hockey team’s 5-4 win against the high-ranking Indian team in Adelaide. It’s not the first time the young gun has pulled his weight in an international match.
4. Jason Dittmann of Dittmann Bulls tops 2022 PBR season
The PBR National Championships came to a close in Townsville at the weekend and local bull breeder and trainer Jason Dittmann ended the year on a season to remember. Dittman and his team took home the YETI Grand Finals Bull Team, Contractor of the Year. And his infamous bull Roid Rage, making his debut in the pit last year, won the YETI Finals High Point Bull of the Event plus Bucking Bull of the Year.
3. Dylan Secher finishes 8th at BMX nationals
Of 44 boys competing at nationals for the under 11 event, Mackay’s Dylan Secher found his way into the finals to place eighth in the nationals in Launceston at the weekend. Secher was one of 10 Mackay athletes at the meet but the only to place inside the top 10. He finished in the top spot several times across both heats and semis before his finals run of eighth place was capped off with an Australian plate.
2. Super Netball lights up Mackay
Super Netball made its way to Mackay for the first time at the weekend and the game between the Firebirds and Lighting was remarkable. A sold out crowd packed into the Mackay Basketball Stadium to watch the two young sides battle it out under the guide of two first year coaches testing new game plans.
1. Kulwhinder Singh scores 193 off 76 balls in Division 4 cricket for The Pinnacles
It was hard to find something bigger than the Super Netball however this is monstrous. Singh seemingly woke up and decided to dismantle local cricket making a meteoric 193 runs off just 76 balls in the men's Division 4 competition. Competing for The Pinnacles, Singh was seeing the ball like a beachball and hit 23 sixes which equated to 138 of his 193 runs to help his side to a slamming victory.
Congratulations to all those who made this weeks top ten.
