Mackay man charged for alleged 2.5 week crime spree

A MAN who was arrested after a 20-minute foot chase in Slade Point on Wednesday has faced court, officially charged in relation to the hit-and-run of a police officer in Cremorne.

Kiren James Hazard, 27, of Mackay, appeared in the dock of Mackay Magistrates Court on Friday, after spending the public holiday in the watch house.

Hazard is facing a total of 33 charges, which the court was told occurred across 2.5 weeks, beginning on June 4 with a break and enter and ending on June 20.

Hazard's family and friends were present in the back of the court.

In a 10-minute hearing, Magistrate Damien Dwyer read the charges, and with no pleas nor applications for bail, adjourned the matter to September 5 for committal mention.

As Hazard was led away from the dock, his now ex-partner and mother of his children told him to take care of himself.

"That's it then,” she said.

"Take care of yourself... we'll go our separate ways now.”

Hazard has been charged with:

  • 2 x dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • 2 x driving without a licence while SPER suspended
  • 5 x enter premises and commit indictable offence by break
  • 5 x enter premises and commit indictable offence
  • 5 x enter premises with intent
  • 1 x enter dwelling with intent
  • 2 x fail to stop motor vehicle
  • 5 x unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • 1 x common assault
  • 3 x receiving tainted property
  • 1 x serious assault - assault/ resist/ obstruct police officer caused bodily harm
  • 1 x unlawful possession of weapons category A, B or M
