Almost a dozen public sector staff at the Mackay Hospital and Health Service earned more than the mayor, a recently-released report has revealed.
One executive director raked in upwards of $1m for six months of work, making their rate of pay more than four times that of Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, who earns $427,561 a year.
The salaries for each of the key management personnel were published in the MHHS Annual Report 2022-23.
Eleven people, largely directors and executive directors, earned more than $200,000, outstripping the pay packet of Mackay Regional Council Mayor Greg Williamson who recently received a 3 per cent pay rise, taking his pay to $192,410 per year.
These included Lisa Davies-Jones, who resigned shortly before former Health Minister Yvette D’Ath sacked the entire MHHS board.
Ms Davies-Jones collectively earned $618,000 during her two-year tenure at the hospital.
The highest paid position went to Philip Reasbeck who took home a $1.095m salary for his six-month stint as Chief Medical Officer and Medical Services executive director.
