A bird has been found dead with an arrow through it at a popular Mackay walking track.

Mackay dad Timothy Gardiner said he was riding with his son to Tackle World when they spotted the dead bird at the Gooseponds.

“My initial thought was, ‘Hey cool, there’s an arrow’,” Mr Gardiner said.

He soon realised it was more than that.

“If a person can do that to a bird, they can do it to anyone or anything.”
