A 20 year old was injured in a golf buggy crash on a Queensland resort island and had to be flown to hospital.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said Hamilton Island paramedics attended the crash on Acacia Drive about 10am on Sunday and assessed a young man for an arm injury.

The patient was in a stable condition when taken to Hamilton Island Medical Centre and then flown to Mackay Base Hospital.

Mackay Base Hospital on Monday confirmed the 20 year old remained in a stable condition.

The crash follows other similar buggy crashes on the holiday island.

A then 18-year-old Jamie Stewart was later sentenced for drunk driving after crashing an golf buggy on Acacia Drive overloaded with four other friends on May 11.

All five suffered injuries, but a Gold Coast friend had not been wearing a seatbelt and also required an emergency chopper after she sustained “significant facial injuries”.

Newlywed bride Marina Morgan was killed in June 2022 after the couple’s buggy rolled on the corner of Coral Sea Ave and Whitsunday Boulevard.

Her then husband Robbie Awad has pleaded not guilty to driving without due care causing death, of using a mobile phone while driving, and not wearing a seatbelt.
