Loved ones are rallying support after a young mum of five tragically died in her sleep, leaving behind five beautiful children.
Effortlessly carefree, a talented musician and a mother who lived for her children — this is how Alannah Bennett is remembered by her family and friends struggling in the wake of her sudden death.
The Russell Island woman, who previously lived in Mackay, was just 36 years old when she went to sleep on November 11, 2024 and never woke up.
Her children are aged between 7 and 17 and those close to her beyond heartbroken
Childhood friend Tegan Wellington has started a GoFundMe to raise money to help support her children, aged seven to 17.
“Alannah was a loving mother, a cherished friend, and an incredible person whose kindness touched everyone around her,” Ms Wellington said.
Her children were her whole world.
“She wanted to ensure they had the best possible future, everything was always for their lives, she lived for them, played and laughed and always had time for them,” she said.
Ms Wellington was 14 years old when she first met Alannah in high school, and the pair have been friends ever since.
“Alannah was effortlessly carefree, fun and had an incredible sense of humour with lots of inside jokes,” she said.
“She was a natural performer and a talented pianist.”
Alannah, who grew up in Mackay but had been living on Russell Island off Brisbane, will be remembered for her “big personality, big boisterous laugh and her incredible determination to provide the best life she could for her children”.
“She was universally loved, had a way of connecting with people and making people feel supported and cared for,” Ms Wellington said.
“We really miss her. She was an incredibly important person to so many people.”
The gofundme campaign, which stated Alannah’s sister will take on raising the five siblings, will go towards the children’s living expenses, housing, food and other essential items.
“We will miss Alannah forever. Our hearts ache with this enormous loss, but together, we hope to help ease the burden on her family and show her children the same kindness she always gave so freely,” Ms Wellington said on the gofundme page.
