Freed crash duo taken to Mackay Base Hospital

Two men were taken to hospital after they were trapped for more than 30 minutes in a night crash at Blacks Beach. Police are investigating.

Mackay Police are looking into the cause of a single vehicle crash at Blacks Beach on Thursday, December 22, that trapped two men.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the crash happened about 8.24pm on Blacks Beach Rd, near Slater Ave.

The vehicle was reported to be off the road.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said two occupants were taken to hospital after they had to be freed from the vehicle.

A man in his 20s suffered chest injuries and was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Another male in his 30s suffered minor injuries and was also taken to hospital in a stable condition.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said three crews were called to the scene and were there for about 90 minutes.

It took their crews about 40 minutes to get access to the occupants and free them, he said.

Police are investigating.
