Mackay police need the public’s help to figure out when a photograph of the “Old Station” was taken

FOR this week’s flashback, Mackay police are seeking your investigative skills.
Senior Constable Steve Smith said one of their volunteers in policing came across a historical photograph of the “old police station” on Brisbane St.
Police were now trying to identify when the photograph was taken, Snr Const Smith said.

But there are clues if you look closely.
“The presence of the vehicle in front of the building may assist,” Snr Const Smith said.
“There are many officers working on identifying the make and model/year of the car but no definitive answer has been identified as yet.”
He said the building, which was constructed in 1885, had changed “very little” structurally since the photograph was taken.
“Its original use was a courthouse before being converted to a police station in the mid 1930s.”
