It’s green grass ahead as Isaac Regional Council offers school use of their recycled water reserves

DYSART State High School will have green grounds all year round thanks to recycled water.

Principal Lyn McDonald said the Isaac Regional Council approached the school with a proposal to use their recycled water reserves along with other schools, clubs and community groups.

“The school has had the infrastructure in place to water the fields but they were going unused,” Ms McDonald said.

“Now, thanks to the council, we have a water allocation of 600kL to 1500kL a week.

“Our watering days are Friday through to Sunday 7am – 4pm.”

Ms McDonald said the school did not need to pay for anything with council installing the necessary water inlet and valves.

“The school has only had to do minor upgrades to our sprinkler system to become fully functional,” she said.

“(The recycled water) means we can comfortably run sporting activities such as the athletics carnival, HPE classes and team sports all year round.

“It also lifts the aesthetics of the school as a whole.”
