The folks who brought Cairns the epic festival The Grass Is Greener are treating their sister cities to a share in the world class acts.
Many Mackay music fans have been making the trip north for the past five years, travelling more than eight hours to get their festival hit at TGIG.
TGIG’s offspring festival The Backyard Series will launch for the first time, bringing the likes of Peking Duk, Boo Seeka and Jesswar to Mackay’s shores.
The festival is also set to stop in Townsville, Toowoomba and Gladstone.
Founder of the TGIG and the Backyard Series Oli Frost said he could not wait to take the experience to the regions, areas he believed were often overlooked for high calibre and contemporary festivals.
“It means so much to be able to extend our festival into regional centres in 2021 and bring an amazing showcase to communities all across Queensland,” Mr Frost said.
“We feel obligated to bring entertainment and community fun to these towns.”
Mr Frost said the key to a successful festival was curating and securing exciting artists for the perfect music experience — a tried and tested tactic that can be seen in TGIG’s success.
“We can’t wait to have one hell of a backyard bash,” he said.
The festival will be held at Harrup Park on November 13, 2021.
Tickets can be bought here when they go on sale at 9am Thursday September 23.
