She’s been a model, actor and dancer but Mackay resident Georgia Knoll is ready for the tastiest step in her career, being Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food latest ambassador.
Ms Knoll went to Mackay District Special School where she first found the spotlight as the school’s vice-captain.
Ever the leader, Georgia now wants to inspire the world to take charge of their health and get into the kitchen.
And Georgia believes good food isn’t just for physical health.
“It's good for your mental health,” she said.
Ms Knoll was at Mackay State High School to promote the Good Foundation and Jamie’s Ministry of Food’s upcoming school holiday program.
The Good Foundation CEO Siobhan Boyle said Ms Knoll was the first Ministry of Food ambassador who was not a celebrity chef.
Mrs Boyle was excited for the legacy Ms Knoll would create.
“It’s going to break down barriers for people with disabilities,” she said.
“We are a program that is open to anyone from anywhere and we want to ensure the program is accessible.”
Mrs Boyle said the upcoming program was focused on Back to Basics, where attendees could learn how to cook for themselves.
She said things like chopping vegetables and knowing how to boil an egg would be on the agenda.
The school holiday program will run from Monday, June 28, to Friday July 2 at the school with two sessions a day.
