Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday prep students start face-to-face school with beaming smiles

There were beaming smiles and very few tears for prep students arriving for their first day of face-to-face learning.
Whitsunday Anglican School prep students were eager to be in the classroom on Monday after already completing a week of online learning.
Prep student Adelaide Bowman said she was most excited about “learning new things”.
“I like art and I am excited to meet friends,” she said.
There seemed to be more nerves from prep parents who hovered outside their child's classroom on Monday morning.
Northern Beaches resident Sandhya Sorout and mother of WAS prep student Abhiveer Sorout said she was more nervous about her son starting school than he was.
“Time is just flying and they are growing so quickly,” Ms Sorout said.
“They were behaving so maturely.
“It is just like a family in there, he’s not that nervous.”
Whitsunday Anglican School Principal Andrew Wheaton said they formed a third prep class to cope with the increase of prep enrolments for 2022.
“There are so many little preppies who are excited to be back this morning.
“We are confident and optimistic about the year ahead,” he said.
He said the school was prepared for the year ahead, starting school on the Monday January 31 remotely, a week earlier than the Queensland Government’s directed mandate.
“We knew that our parents, students and staff were ready,” Mr Wheaton said.
“So it is great to have everyone back face-to-face today.
“Our students are very gracious and resilient as they move through this too.”
Queensland primary and secondary students began school on Monday after Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk delayed face-to-face learning for two weeks, to allow time for children to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
