MACKAY resident of 86 years Frank Paul has written a bush ballad about his wife and great love of 60 years, Barbara.
He submitted the romantic tale as part of Sugar Town Music’s COVID 4740 Community Resilience Project which aims to help expose the region’s talent during the pandemic.
“(The project) will reflect our strength, resilience and our creativity in the face of unprecedented adversity,” concept designer Mr Netuschil said.

As part of the project, selected artists will get the chance to have their songs professionally recorded for free working with a team of producers, musicians, photographers, videographers and artists.
Mr Netuschil said the project had received quite a few submissions of “hidden gems” but they were keen for more.
“There’ll be people out there who were going to submit something and then they haven’t quite got the courage,” he said.
“We’re open to extensions, just drop us a line and let us know.”

He said they were also calling on the Mackay community to send in video footage of them “turning up the dial” whether it be the radio in the car, truck or boat.
Mr Paul’s ballad will air on ABC Tropical North‘s Breakfast Show this Saturday between 8.30am and 10am.
