The beers are chilling and the pretzels and pork knuckles are prepped for a month-long Oktoberfest celebration at popular Mackay restaurant The Bavarian.
Tap into some of the imported German draught beers, served in traditional steins, as you chow down on some meaty fare – ist gut ya?
Festivities, including oompah bands, kick off on Friday, September 17 and run through until Sunday October 17.
Throughout the Oktoberfestivities there will be 10 German beers on tap including three limited edition Oktoberfestbeers – Hofbrau, Paulaner and Lowenbrau – created by brewmeisters especially for the event.
There will be a Bavarian Fest set menu featuring a haus-baked pretzel, crunchy noodle salad, golden chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and fries, classic apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and two hours of beers, house wine and soft drink ($79 per person).
An Oktoberfest Combo menu is also available, including a fresh-baked pretzel, crackling pork belly or schnitzel, a 500ml German beer and a shot of schnapps ($45 per person).
Also on the menu is The Oktoberfest schnitzel, which comprises of a golden crumbed chicken breast, sauteed potatoes, wurstsalat (traditional sausage salad), pickled cucumber and mustard ($28) as well as fan favourites including pork knuckles and traditional sausages.
The Bavarian Director of Venue Performance and Experience John Sullivan said, “If festival-goers cannot visit Oktoberfest in Munich, we’ll bring a taste of Oktoberfest to them.”
“From classic dishes that are generous in size and flavour, to steins of traditional imported beer, and festive tunes and songs from our oompah bands, our restaurants capture the essence of an Oktoberfest experience without travelling too far from home,” Mr Sullivan said.
