A Mackay city business is closed until further notice after an early morning blaze resulted in “extensive fire, smoke (and) water damage”.
One worker was inside Brumby’s Bakery on Sydney St when the flames erupted in an oven on Saturday.
Emergency services were called about 3.18am with three fire crews arriving at the popular store.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said one crew entered the store wearing breathing gear about 3.22pm and the fire was put out by 3.30am.
He said police, paramedics and Ergon Energy crews were also on scene and Queensland Ambulance Service assessed one person.
Fire crews continued ventilation, as well as atmosphere monitoring before leaving the site about 4.40am.
The spokesman said fire investigators returned at 7am.
He said the fire was non suspicious and investigators were looking into what caused the blaze.
Large signs are affixed outside the closed store that read: “Due to extensive fire, smoke, water damage, we will be closed until further notice.”
