Bruce Highway blocked after crash in Sarina, three injured in Mackay New Year’s Eve crashes
The Bruce Highway was shut following a two vehicle crash in the middle of Sarina. This comes after three people were injured in the Mackay region in several crashes overnight.

It’s been a busy night as crashes and collisions across the region sent a number of people to the hospital.
Northbound traffic on the Bruce Highway was stopped on Wednesday morning, January 1, following a two-vehicle crash in Sarina.
Emergency services rushed to Broad St near Johnston St in Sarina after two vehicles crashed near Broad St, blocking the northbound lanes.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said no one was physically injured and investigations into the crash were ongoing.
This comes after a busy New Year’s Eve and Day for emergency services which started with reports of a car crashing and catching fire in Palmyra.
Paramedics responded to Bells Rd just before 8.30pm, New Year’s Eve and transported one person with a head injury and another patient to Mackay Hospital in a stable condition.
The next crash came in the early hours of New Year’s Day when two men riding e-scooters collided in North Mackay.
A man in his 20s and a man in his 30s crashed into one another on Harbour Rd just after 1am, with the man in his 20s sustaining a head injury and the other only suffering minor injuries.
Close by on Malcomson St in North Mackay a man was rushed to hospital just after 1am after suffering a life threatening injury falling from his bicycle.
