A man has attempted to run down a group of firefighters with his vehicle in North Queensland, with the male using a bizarre excuse as to why.
Just before 1pm Queensland Fire and Emergency Services firefighters responded to a call near the Peries IGA on Williams St, Bowen.
An unidentified man driving a red LandCruiser tried to hit three of the firefighters with his car while the men were at the location.
The man narrowly missed colliding with the fireys as intended and police arrived on the scene just after 1pm.
When asked why he targeted the firefighters, the man allegedly said “I was having a bad day”.
“The person had left prior to police arriving,” confirmed a Queensland Police Service spokesman.
The man’s current whereabouts is unknown to police who are looking to take him into custody.
“It’s a matter for police now.” said a QFES spokeswoman.
