Man, 21, fighting for life after horror four-vehicle crash

One person is fighting for life, and two others suffered injuries after a multi-vehicle crash on the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday night.
Police said just before 6pm, a black Holden Rodeo was travelling south on Walter Hay Drive between Doonan and Noosaville when it crashed into a black Audi S3 travelling in the opposite direction.
The impact caused the Audi to veer onto the south side of the road, where it collided with a white Hyundai Palisade.
The Holden continued on the incorrect side of the road before crashing into a black Ford Ranger.
Police said the driver of the Holden, a 21-year-old Sunrise Beach man, was flown to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford, a 63-year-old Noosaville man, was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
All up paramedics assessed nine patients after the four vehicle collision near Emu Mountain Road and Eumarella road.
Queensland Ambulance Service said the most seriously injured man in his 20s, who was initially trapped in his vehicle, suffered life-threatening injuries.
Two women in their 60s were taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in stable conditions with back and chest pain.
Six further patients, all in stable conditions, did not require transport to hospital.
Both southbound lanes remained closed from the intersection of Hofmann Drive late into the night.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman told The Courier Mail three crew originally attended the scene.
One person was trapped inside a vehicle and crews successfully managed to cut them free by 6:20pm.
One person with life-threatening injuries was transported by helicopter to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Two others were transported in a stable condition to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital while the other six people assessed did not require transport.
A QPS spokesman said the Forensic Crash Unit had arrived at the scene with lane closures expected to continue until midnight as they conduct further investigations.
Paramedics also attended a two vehicle crash at Tanawha. One stable patient was taken to hospital after the crash on Frizzo Connection Road at 7.09pm.
