The sister of a woman whose body was found in a crashed car two days after she was reported missing says she can’t imagine life without her “best friend and soulmate”.
Krissie-Lee Sheridan was reported missing on Thursday after she failed to arrive for work at a Blackwater mine - a six-hour drive from her home in Hervey Bay.
Her disappearance sparked a public appeal by Queensland Police for information.
But the search ended in tragedy on Friday afternoon when police confirmed that the 26-year-old’s body was found in her white 4WD following a single-vehicle crash at Kolonga, north of Gin Gin.
“I just can’t believe this has happened,” Krissie-Lee’s sister Shay Sheridan said in a heartfelt tribute to her sister.
“You are my life, my rock, my everything. I can’t imagine my life without you because every day of my life has had you in it.”
Krissie-Lee had not been seen since November 10, when she set off for work in her white 1995 Toyota Prado after having breakfast with her mum and nana, and began the six hour journey to work at a Blackwater mine.
Ms Sheridan told the Courier Mail that it was her sister’s workplace that raised the alarm when she failed to arrive.
“Her work called mum the next morning (of November 11) and said: ‘Krissie never picked up her key last night, and she isn’t at work,’ and then mum filed a police report straight away because that’s so not like Krissie, she would never just disappear without telling anyone where she was going,” Shay said.
Tragically, Ms Sheridan said that her “beautiful little sister” was meant to celebrate her 27th birthday in five days, but would never get the chance.
She said they had been “inseparable” and talked every day and that she had felt something was seriously wrong when Krissie-Lee did not contact her.
“My brain can’t comprehend you’re gone but my hearts (sic) known … for days,” Ms Sheridan wrote.
“It’s like we were twins and when you passed I just knew I felt so disconnected from you.
“You are (are not ‘were’ because you are and will always remain the person you have been your entire life) the most amazing, beautiful, kind, loving person.”
Queensland Police on Friday released a statement detailing the single vehicle traffic crash.
“A white 4WD was located off the road in Boundary Gully at Kolonga at around 3:20pm this afternoon,” a statement read.
“The female driver and sole occupant was declared deceased at the scene.
“The woman left Hervey Bay on Wednesday morning to travel to Blackwater.
“Investigations are continuing.”
