Kefu thanks community for ‘outpouring of love’ after attack

Toutai Kefu has taken to social media to post a heartfelt thank you to his suburb for an ‘outpouring of love’ that included meal deliveries and garden work.

Toutai Kefu has written a heartwarming thank you to his community after working bees, meals and flowers were all given to the family who survived a terrifying home invasion.

The former Rugby Union superstar, his wife and two of his children were hospitalised after four teenagers allegedly broke into their house and attacked them.

Toutai Kefu took to the Coorparoo Community Facebook group to thank his neighbours and wider community for the “outpouring of love.”

“On behalf of the Kefu family we would like to thank everyone for all the well wishes and messages of support,” Kefu wrote.

“The outpouring of love has been unbelievable, we feel very lucky.”

“We’re all doing well, we’ve been back in our home now for a couple of nights and so far it’s been all OK.”

“People have brought food, meals, flowers, did work on our house our gardens cleaned up yards etc etc.

“We are so very grateful.”

“I’ve grown up in this area my whole life and I’m so proud to call this my neighbourhood.”

Four teenagers been charged with the attempted murders of the Wallabies legend, his wife Rachel and their two adult children.

The teenagers allegedly used an axe, machete and knife in the attack, leaving Toutai Kefu requiring lifesaving surgery to his abdomen and his wife Rachel, who also required surgery with severe injuries to her arm.

Their 21-year-old son was left with stab wounds to his back and arm and 18-year-old daughter with wounds to her arm and hand.
