Kebab Kulture in Hendra, in the city’s north, promises to do away with the typical lettuce, tomato and onion versions usually consumed in shopping centre food courts or after stumbling out of a nightclub at 3am. Instead the vision is to showcase flavours from across the world with everything from an Asian kebab to an American-themed incarnation.
The menu is still a work in progress, but will include six signature kebabs all influenced by different countries. There will also be kebab bowls and Halal Snack Packs, will all meat halal, while the bread is set to be a lavash-style.
And it’s not just the food moving outside the ordinary. The eatery on East West Arterial Road plans to do away with the usual fluoro lights and uninspired decor associated with the takeaway shops, instead going for a cool, LA, ’90s hip hop vibe, featuring a huge graffiti mural starring rappers Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tupac and Biggie.
The 120sq m, 30-seater restaurant from the Gencerler Group (behind Ahmet’s South Bank) is due to open late October.
