Seven women have been charged and $17,000 cash seized following a police sting targeting alleged illegal prostitution in massage parlours in the Ipswich region.

Operation Tango Convenience concluded after police executed four search warrants and seized $17,000 in Australian currency.

Three businesses are alleged to have been operating as illegal brothels and seven women aged from 31 to 62 were charged with offences relating to illegal prostitution.

They were issued notices to appear and will face Ipswich Magistrates Court for the first time on January 12.

Further investigation is now ongoing with assistance from other state and federal agencies.
