Paramedics were called to a second Ipswich school yesterday, not long after an alleged fight at a local primary school that same day, it has been revealed.

Tensions between two students allegedly exploded at Bremer State High School on Thursday afternoon, July 28, which left a teenage girl with minor head injuries.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the teen was treated on scene and transported to Ipswich hospital in a stable condition about 12pm

An hour prior, an ambulance crew was called to Sacred Heart Primary School, Booval, after a fight broke out at the private school. Following that incident, a boy was treated for minor injuries to his neck, however he did not require hospital treatment.

A Department of Education spokesman said Bremer State High School was committed to providing a safe, respectful and disciplined learning environment.

“The incident was resolved quickly and disciplinary consequences will be applied in line with the school’s student code of conduct,” he said.

“No knives or other weapons were involved.

“Any situation that threatens the safety and wellbeing of students, staff or others in the school

community is treated extremely seriously, and dealt with as a matter of priority.”

Police said officers were not called to the high school, however they did respond to the incident at Sacred Heart after receiving initial reports a student had a knife.

The Queensland Times reached out to Brisbane Catholic Education and Sacred Heart about the assault, however they did not respond.

Following the incident at Sacred Heart, principal Chris Thomas sent a statement to parents to say the entire school went into emergency lockdown.

Mr Thomas praised his teaching staff who responded to the situation to ensure, “all members of our school community remained safe”.

“This event may have caused distress for our students, and I would like to emphasise to students and families that if they require counselling support as a result, they are to make contact [ASAP]”.
