Toowoomba and Ipswich alleged violent car thieves front court

Named: Two men accused of knifing a Toowoomba resident in his home, during a brazen cross-country car theft crime spree from Springfield to the Darling Downs, have faced court.

Two men accused of committing a number of brazen and violent break and enters across Ipswich and the Darling Downs will remain behind bars following their arrest yesterday.

Police allege the men, Reech David Deng Amol and Goch Angok Jurkuch, and two 17-year-old boys, broke into a number of homes stealing a number of items, including cars, wallets, and phones.

Jurkuch and Amol did not apply for bail when their case was mentioned before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday, June 20.

Magistrate Kay Philipson ordered a full brief of evidence to be completed by July 28.

During the alleged crime spree, two Toowoomba car theft victims were confronted in their homes.

A Newtown man’s leg was allegedly slashed and he was also assaulted with a car jack, and a Drayton teenager was threatened at knifepoint.

The group allegedly forced their way into the homes by smashing windows, damaging doors, and windows.

The victims were not known to the alleged offenders.

Police charged the two 20-year-old men and the 17-year-old boys with the same charges, which are as follows; robbery with violence while armed resulting in a wounding, dangerous driving, break and enter to commit a crime, knife possession, threatening violence, unlawful entry of a car while armed, and the unlawful use of cars.

The case will next be mentioned at the Toowoomba Magistrate Court on July 28.
