The partner and young son of man who was shot and killed outside a Gailes house were home moments before the shooting.
Police have released more details after a 36-year-old man was murdered in broad daylight just before 4pm on Saturday.
Detective Acting Inspector Heath McQueen addressed the media in a press conference on Sunday morning.
He said the victim had been sitting in the front yard of an Old Logan Road house when four males arrived in a silver Holden Commodore station wagon.
“A conversation has occurred and, shortly after, the males have entered the dwelling with the victim,” Det Insp McQueen said.
“During their time inside the house, a dispute has occurred, where it is alleged one of those males has discharged a firearm into one of the internal walls inside the house.”

Det Insp McQueen said the men had run from the house, back to their car, where another dispute broke out.
“Unfortunately the victim has (followed) and a second altercation has occurred,” he said.
“One of the male offenders has discharged a firearm and struck the victim in the chest.”
Despite working on the man for more than half an hour, critical care paramedics were unable to save his life.
The man died at the scene.
Three other people were home, including the victim’s 36-year-old partner and two-year-old son.
“She managed to escape with the son during the commission of the offence and was not there at that time,” Det Insp McQueen said.
“The 45-year-old female associate of the two persons who reside at the house (was on scene).”
Det Insp McQueen said police were aware of certain people involved and also asked for any witnesses to come forward.
“There are a number of persons of interest we are keen to speak with and we ask them to come forward and assist us with our inquiries,” he said.
“(Key persons of interest) know who they are.”
He urged anyone with dashcam footage of and around Old Logan Road and the Ipswich Motorway to come forward.
Forensic investigators are expected to remain on scene all day Sunday and into Monday and an autopsy is set to take place within the next 48 hours.
