Evidence delays as Chloe Brehm, Kayde Gehrke face Ipswich Court for Jarryd Miller’s alleged murder

A case against two young people charged with murdering South East Queensland father Jarryd Miller is facing significant delays over the gathering of evidence, a court has heard.

Police have charged two people with murder following the death of Lowood father Jarryd Miller.

Two individuals charged with murdering Lowood dad Jarryd Miller will remain in custody as a court heard there would be significant delays gathering evidence, including DNA and blood spatter analysis.

Kayde Desmond Gehrke, 20 of Mount Beppo, and Chloe Marie Brehm, 24 of Lowood, were both charged with murder following the shooting death of Mr Miller on January 2.

Police will allege the 35-year-old father was killed in a drive-by shooting outside his Lowood home in a “targeted and planned attack”.

Mr Gehrke and Ms Brehm are both remanded in custody as the murder case proceeds through the court.

Their matters were briefly mentioned in Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 3.

The court heard a partial brief of evidence had previously been ordered to be disclosed to the defence in March.

But Crown prosecutor Alexi Quayle told the court the prosecution were still going through the “quite large” amount of evidence.

“There are some things missing such as phone downloads, autopsies, weapon and ballistics reports, DNA, and blood spatter analysis,” Ms Quayle said.

She requested a three month adjournment for the brief to be disclosed.

Magistrate Dennis Kinsella accepted there would “unfortunately be inherent delays to the matter” due to the nature of the charge.

“I do note the seriousness of the matter … Those sorts of matters will take a significant period of time,” he said.

The matter was adjourned to August 2, and both defendants were remanded in custody.
