A second person has been charged over the death of a man in his Lowood home this week in what police allege was a drive-by shooting involving two people who knew him.
Ipswich detectives charged 24-year-old Lowood woman Chloe Marie Brehm with murder overnight, in relation to the death of 35-year-old Jarryd Miller at Lowood on January 2.
Mount Beppo 19-year-old Kayde Desmond Gehrke has also been charged with murder over Mr Miller’s death.
Acting Detective Inspector Wayne Francis said police will allege Mr Miller was killed in a drive-by shooting.
Police will allege Gehrke and Brehm were inside a black Kia Cerato that pulled up in front of the victim’s home about 1.16am on January 2.
A single shot was fired from inside the car and the vehicle then fled the address, they will allege.
Emergency services were initially called to a Walnut Crescent address around 5am following reports of the man being found unresponsive at the property.
“All three are associates and we believe this was a targeted and planned attack,” Det Francis said.
Police said the car and the weapon have been recovered.
Detective Francis said there was no threat to the public.
“There’s a number of people we still want to speak to, but in terms of community safety … we do have who we believe to be the primary offenders in custody,” he said.
Detective Francis said the victim’s family were being kept up to date on the investigation.
Mr Miller was a father to three young children.
“Obviously this is an extremely traumatic time for the families … it’s a relatively close-knit sort of pocket there,” he said.
Detective Francis did not speculate on the motive behind the attack, saying it would be the “main focus” of the police investigation.
Police have not commented on who fired the shot which killed Mr Miller.
Gehrke briefly appeared before Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday.
Brehm appeared before Ipswich Magistrates Court on January 5.
Both Brehm and Gehrke were remanded in custody, with their matters adjourned until January 19.
Police are continuing to appeal for information, including anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the vicinity of Walnut Crescent between midnight and 2am on January 2, to contact police.
