Three children have been left devastated after their mother was taken from them in a tragic car crash involving her allegedly intoxicated fiance.

QLD's 2022 road toll described as "concerning"

Members of the Ipswich community are mourning the loss of a devoted mother who lost her life in a tragic car crash earlier this week, for which the driver — and her long-term partner — has been charged.

It is alleged Bradley Phillip Cutts, 45, was driving a blue 2009 Hyundai Getz west along Cascade St in Raceview when, about 10.30am on Tuesday, September 6, it diverted off the road and into a power pole before coming to rest in a driveway, flipping in the process.

Cutts’ partner of six years Elizabeth Francis was sitting in the car’s front passenger seat at the time of the crash. She sadly died at the scene, aged 41.

The Ipswich man appeared in court for the first time in relation to the incident on Wednesday, September 7, charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while under the influence of liquor or a drug.

He applied for bail but was denied as the presiding magistrate Rob Turra deemed him an unacceptable risk to the community and to himself.

Mr Turra told the court the Crown’s evidence was “objectively strong” and there was a likelihood Cutts might reoffend.

The Queensland Times understands Ms Francis was born in Bathurst, New South Wales and attended Kelso High School from 1993 to 1996, when she commenced work at Big W.

She left this position in 1998, later becoming a stay-at-home mum before starting her own cleaning business. Cutts currently works as a cleaner for the business and is in receipt of the Newstart pension.

Ms Francis is survived by her children Amy, 15, Brayden, 16, and Liam, 18.

Ipswich Magistrates Court heard on Wednesday she was living with Cutts and her daughter at Raceview when she died.

It is understood Ms Francis and Cutts became engaged in July last year.

More to come.
