Brisbane doctor Robyn Mary James manslaughter case to proceed to Ipswich Court hearing

A Brisbane doctor accused of manslaughter will face a hearing later this year, where multiple doctors are set to give expert testimony.

Multiple doctors will give expert testimony at a hearing later this year for a Brisbane doctor charged with manslaughter.

Dr Robyn Mary James, 65 of Wooloowin, stands charged with one count of manslaughter.

The manslaughter is alleged to have occurred in the suburb Ipswich between June 1 and December 28, 2017.

At the matter’s mention on January 19, 2024, the case was set down for a committal hearing later this year.

Ipswich Magistrates’ Court heard there was currently eight witnesses to give testimony at the hearing.

These included three doctors, who would give expert testimony.

Defence lawyer Emma Higgins said there would likely be another three witnesses, totalling eleven, by the time the hearing proceeded.

Crown prosecutor May Gu said the hearing would likely take two to three days.

The hearing was scheduled for August 14 to 16, and Dr James’s bail was enlarged.
