A Queensland OnlyFans creator has faced court over accusations he shared videos of a woman without her consent on the platform.
Aubrey John Cox, 32, faced the Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Thursday on three counts of distributing intimate images without consent.
The court heard the Redbank man allegedly filmed himself having sex with the woman.
In December 2021 and January 2022, prosecutors allege videos of the incident surfaced on Mr Cox’s OnlyFans account and were seen by a witness who alerted the alleged victim.
Crown prosecutor Robyn Schermer told the court an investigation was launched in January after the woman came forward with a complaint.
OnlyFans is a subscription-based social media site where users can sell or purchase content and is primarily by sex workers to monetise their content.
In court, Mr Cox’s defence lawyer, Mr Jacob, argued OnlyFans verification process would prevent the content from being posted without the consent of the woman.
He asked the court to allow defence to cross-examine the alleged victim if the case went to trial.
“The thrust of it is it’s not possible to upload images with another person without that verification proceeding,” he said.
Magistrate Jason Schubert granted Mr Jacob limited topics on which he was allowed to cross-examine the woman at a committal hearing on February 2 next year.
Mr Cox will appear later this month for a bail application.
