MURDER accused Anthony Charles Oliver told his brother-in-law his best mate had attacked him after learning about an affair with his wife.
Norman Desmond Cheney, 41, and his wife Trichelle, who were living at Caloundra in 2010 in the weeks before he died, had not long separated when he learned Anthony and Trichelle were sleeping together.
Mr Oliver, 38, admits he shot Mr Cheney in the head in self-defence, concreted his body into a barrel at his sister's Esk property and then dumped the barrel into the Caboolture River.
But he is facing a trial in the Brisbane Supreme Court after pleading not guilty to murder.
Brother-in-law Peter Harris said Mr Oliver was agitated after he put a red car, with Mr Cheney's dead body inside, inside a shed at the Esk property in late December, 2010.
"He was white and nervous," he said.
"He also said something about bad people would come after him; that they wouldn't just kill him, they would cut him into pieces."
Mr Harris said he never went near the shed until Mr Oliver finally returned.
He said they bought 20 bags of quick-mix concrete in Esk and used a barrel from the property.
"Anthony opened the door (of the car) and got Norman out and sort of threw him inside the drum (head first)."
Jenny Harris, Mr Oliver's sister, said the three of them drove to Caboolture but she refused to concede she knew they were scouting for a place to dump the barrel.
The trial continues.
