Monash Rd, Redbank acid spill: 16 assessed, four in hospital Redbank

Four people have been rushed to hospital and 16 needed to be assessed by paramedics after an acid spill at an Ipswich packing facility.

Four have been hospitalised after a chemical leak at a packing facility in Ipswich this morning.

Firefighters and ambulance officers were called to the Monash Rd, Redbank facility this morning (February 2) about 7.30am.

Firefighters in protective equipment managed to contain the spill within a few hours.

One person suffered chemical burns, while three others suffered breathing problems.

All four patients were transported to Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition.

Paramedics assessed a further 12 people on scene.

The packing facility has since been made safe, with employees able to return to work.

Investigations are continuing into the contents and cause of the spill.
