Moments leading to shocking pedestrian and car crash at Ipswich revealed

A young man has been released from hospital after being seriously injured in a heart-stopping crash at Redbank.

It has been revealed a young Ipswich man was travelling across a pedestrian crossing on his skateboard near Redbank Plaza when he was struck by a car.

The busy intersection at Smith Road and Collingwood Drive came to a crashing halt as emergency services rushed to the aid of the 25-year-old.

The Ipswich man was knocked with such force he suffered serious head injuries and spent a week at the Princess Alexandra hospital.

The man is now recovering at home.

Police have opened an investigation into the serious crash which occurred in the on Wednesday, January 19 ,afternoon.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the 41-year old Ipswich woman who was driving the Holden Barina which struck the man is assisting police with their investigation.

Forensic investigators cordoned off the busy intersection for hours and the investigation continues into the cause of the shocking crash.
