IN PICTURES: Ipswich Anzac Day 2022 commemorations, Dawn Service

Thousands of Ipswich residents gathered at Honour Stone to pay their respects to Australia’s veterans past and present, in what was the beginning of Anzac Day 2022 commemorations.

Before dawn broke on Monday April 25, thousands of Ipswich residents made their way to Honour Stone at Nicholas St to pause and reflect on the sacrifice of the Armed Services personnel of Australia and New Zealand.

The commemoration marked the long-awaited return of face-to-face camaraderie after two years of Covid-19 restrictions.

Ipswich RSL Sub-Branch hosted the service, with Reverend Peter Woodward leading the crowd in prayer and St Edmund’s College students reciting poems.

The Dawn Service was followed by a march from South St at 8.20am and a second service at the RSL Memorial Gardens at 8.30am.
