A 21-year-old has faced court over a fiery crash that is alleged to have grievously injured his three passengers in a suburb west of Brisbane.

Redbank resident Corey Jonse Evans, 21, faced Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on October 3.

It is alleged Mr Evans was driving a white Ford Falcon sedan in Chris St, Redbank, when it struck a parked truck on March 18 at 11.11pm.

Mr Evans and his four passengers were trapped inside the car as it caught fire, but were freed before the flames took hold.

A male in his 20s with head injuries and a stable teenage girl with minor injuries were both taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Two other people were taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital: A man in his 20s with a significant arm injury and a woman in her 20s with head and pelvis injuries.

Mr Evans was not charged over the incident until September 4.

He is charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, driving without a licence, driving while over the no alcohol limit but under the general alcohol limit (while he was not the holder of a driver‘s licence), driving a defective light motor vehicle, altering number plates, and using a vehicle with altered number plates.

Evans’ matter was briefly mentioned in Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on October 3.

He was granted bail on his own undertaking, and the matter was adjourned to October 20, 2023.
