Police investigating after Ipswich bus displays desperate message

Residents and motorists in an Ipswich suburb have been left baffled and concerned by a sinister message displayed on a public bus.

A Translink bus has caused alarm for some Ipswich residents after displaying a concerning message.

Motorists on a busy Ipswich road have been left concerned and confused after noticing a bus displaying a desperate message on its LED display.

A resident took to Facebook this afternoon to share that they had seen a bus pulled on to the side of Blackstone Road, Newtown, with the words “Help! Call police” displayed where the route number would usually be.

Police confirmed they were called to a disturbance involving a bus around 1.14pm near Whitehill Rd.

Reports indicated that there had been two people allegedly fighting on the bus, however by the time police arrived, those two people had left.

Police spoke with witnesses and passengers and were investigating the incident, and have confirmed there were no injuries.

Translink have confirmed it was one of their buses involved and said that it was common practice for buses to be fitted with a button to display a help message in case of emergency.
