The Queensland Times has tallied more than 100 votes in this year’s Cutest Dog Competition and can now reveal who is Ipswich’s most adorable pup.
Hundreds of devoted dog parents from across the region entered their furry friends in the competition last month and 87 finalists were selected by our readers.
From teacup-sized chihuahuas to muscular dalmatians, and a blind French Bulldog to a colourful mixed-breed, our city has a variety of one-of-a-kind pups.
After counting a total of 126 votes, we can confidently say which one our readers think is the cutest. Here are the top 5 as voted by our readers.
5. FERRIS
Coming in fifth in the competition, was QT reader Kelly Lawrence’s dog Ferris.
This adorable Ipswich pup was pictured with his human buddy and raked in a substantial number of likes in our Facebook posts and in our online poll.
Well deserved, Ferris!
4. ELVIS
Placing fourth, was Julie Rolfe’s dog Elvis.
Elvis is a seven-month-old Chihuahua whose mum said is the “cutest, sweetest little guy”.
Ms Rolfe said her little pup was very lucky to be here after enduring a major health scare at just six weeks of age.
Congratulations, Elvis!
3. PHOENIX
According to QT readers, Stew Cos’ dog Phoenix is Ipswich’s third cutest dog.
Mr Cos submitted a gorgeous shot of his honey-coloured pup in the 2022 competition.
Well done, Phoenix!
2. GIGI
Claudie Rose’s big-eyed pup Gigi came in second in the competition.
In her picture, she appears all rugged up for winter in a pink woollen coat.
Congratulations, Gigi!
1. PENNY
Lindsay Lorraway’s gorgeous furry sidekick Penny was voted Ipswich’s cutest dog.
Born without eyes, four-year-old French Bulldog Penny received an overwhelming number of votes from dog lovers across the region.
Ms Lorraway submitted a charming photo of her loveable furball relaxing in bed with her ears pricked up and her tongue hanging out of her mouth.
Ms Lorraway said her little best friend was surrendered to a vet specialist years ago after being born without eyeballs.
“She spent the first year of her life in the amazing care of a rescue, Helping Paws Adoption Program,” Ms Lorraway said.
“I rescued Penny February 9, 2019. My life has never been the same since.
“She has the cheekiest personality; if you ask her she is the boss and will let everyone know.”
Ms Lorraway said that although Penny is blind, her ears and nose never miss a trick.
“She is extremely sweet and very trusting even though she lives in a world of darkness,” she said.
“Being her mum is very rewarding and I would encourage anyone who can to adopt a special needs dog.”
Congratulations, Penny!
