Mr Stewart, 31, was fatally shot during an alleged street brawl at Ipswich on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.

Tye Joshua Bickle was charged with one count of murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm and one charge of possessing dangerous drugs.

Brayden Alan Wilson-Knight, 25, was charged with one count of murder and two counts of grievous bodily harm.

The men appeared before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, when the court was told all evidence was yet to be disclosed to their defence lawyers.

The court heard the Department of Public Prosecutions required six weeks to sift through and redact components of “a very large hard drive of evidence”.

A town agent acting on behalf of Phillips Crawford Lawyers told the court Wilson-Knight’s application for legal aid funding was not approved and his original application was rejected.

Magistrate Dennis Kinsella said the case would be moving forward regardless of the application’s outcome.

“This matter has been mentioned, I don’t know how many times,” he said.

“You can tell your principals that they need to get that resolved as soon as possible.

“They may not be given leave to withdraw given how long it’s been dragging along.”

Wilson-Knight was granted bail in April and Bickle was remanded in custody.

Police will allege it was Bickle who shot Mr Stewart.

The case was set aside for a committal mention in September.
