A much loved fast food restaurant in Brisbane’s CBD has reopened a month after its closure caused widespread panic and confusion.
To the delight of chargrilled fast food lovers Hungry Jack’s in the Queen Street Mall has officially reopened as of 11am Friday morning following its temporary closure for scheduled maintenance.
“Hungry Jack’s is excited to welcome customers back to the restaurant as it returns to 24-hour trading,” said the burger chain in a statement.
“Customers will once again have access to better burgers and exclusive menu items, including the limited time only Zooper Dooper Burtsties at the central Brisbane restaurant.”
In early October people began noticing the roller doors of the restaurant, housed in the landmark Beak House erected in 1899, were closed and took to social media with their concerns.
“Surely it’s a reno. Otherwise I will fall to my knees at the loss of this cultural landmark,” one person wrote on Reddit thread.
“If it does close down should we lay wreaths at the steps?” another commented.
Due to its central location and 24-hour trading it became a notorious pit stop for the city’s late night party people chasing a burger, a bathroom, and often both.
