A prized Holden Commodore taken by an unmarked tow truck in a brazen broad daylight theft south of Brisbane has been found by a group of children walking home from school in bushland.

Queensland Police said the orange Holden Commodore that was stolen by a driver in an unmarked tow truck from Grand Plaza Shopping Centre at Browns Plains on Tuesday, September 3, was found at Park Ridge.

“Police located the Holden Commodore at a Mount Lindesay Highway address,” a police spokeswoman said.

The car’s owner Mako Shanks told The Courier-Mail that the car was found by a group of children in bushland.

“A group of children found it in bushland, they were walking home from school, they cut through the bushland and they saw something covered with a tarpaulin,” she said.

“So kids being kids, they went and checked it out, and it was the car.”

Ms Shanks said she felt relieved the car had been found.

“But this is part one, part two is yet to come, finding the f---ing asshole that took it.

“I would like to thank the media and the public for sharing our post, that was just awesome.”

Investigations into the theft of the car are ongoing.
