A man facing an attempted murder charge after he allegedly shot a Comanchero in the face has been denied bail.

Hanad Mohammed Mohammud, 23, appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday charged with attempted murder in connection with an alleged shooting incident in Underwood on September 12 that left 25-year-old Comanchero Kyle Leofa with a significant wound to his face and throat.

It’s understood Mr Mohammud was with a group of 20 people filming a music video in a carpark in Underwood when two vehicles approached the group, one of which contained Mr Leofa.

The court heard that CCTV footage captured Mr Mohammud at the scene where he was wearing a black jacket before changing into a blue puffer jacket before the alleged incident.

The person wearing the blue jacket then fired two bullets at a car from an elevated surface with one bullet striking the top of the car while the second struck the alleged victim inside the car.

Mr Mohammud’s solicitor Danielle Heable told the court there had been no forensic evidence found in regards to the case including the blue jacket that the alleged shooter was wearing at the time of the incident, the gun or any bullets.

Ms Heable also said the facts didn’t support that the applicant “intended to kill the victim” due to the distance of the shot and the fact that the alleged victim was in a car at the time, however Magistrate Kyna Morice disagreed.

“I’m not with you on that, unless you have another argument regarding it … The current facts prove an intent when shooting at the car with someone in it,” she said.

The court heard that Mr Mohammud “wholly denied” that he was a part of any gang with Ms Heable saying there were “no facts” to establish whether or not he is a part of a gang, such as insignia or items of clothing.

Ms Heable said police did not consider Mr Mohammud to be a risk to the community but police were concerned that “his own associates may harm him” because of his charges.

Police prosecutor Eddie Fraser said he believed the alleged offender would be a risk to the community and that he would also be a flight risk given Mr Mohammud was arrested in Melbourne where, the court heard, he went on holiday three days after the incident.

Mr Mohammud was refused bail and will remain in custody. The matter will return to Brisbane Magistrates Court on October 22.
