There’s no question the Gympie region has always been famous for producing some top-quality rugby league talent – just look at NRL young guns Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and Selwyn Cobbo, for instance.

But as far as who’s best represented the Gold City on the field so far in season 2021, Gympie Devils women’s side skipper Caitlin “Caite” Sing has won over a great deal of onlookers at local – and regional – level.

The Crows’ squad was comprised of the Battalion’s standout players, with Sing featuring as one of four Falcons to get the elite representative honour.

Devils coach Troy Carlson was full of praise for Sing’s dedication to her leadership role so far this season.

“At the start of the year she was made captain of our team, just through pure effort and dedication in everything she does on the field,” Carlson said.

“She’s such a tough competitor, her defence is just unreal, it’s heads and shoulders above everyone else on the Coast.

Carlson said Sing “absolutely” deserved to win the popular vote.

“She deserves everything she gets. She definitely deserves the recognition,” he said.

Sing will lead the Devils into battle against the Nambour Crushers away from home on Saturday.
