Weekend full of emergency in the Gympie region

A WEEKEND fraught with accidents, near misses and tragedy kept Gympie emergency crews extremely busy over the weekend.

A WEEKEND fraught with accidents, near misses and tragedy kept Gympie emergency crews extremely busy over the weekend.

SATURDAY:

1.15PM: FIREFIGHTERS did everything they could to save a family home at Curra, but the wooden house was razed to the ground. The devastated family watched as their house of 30 years, where they raised their children burnt to the ground.

12PM: A 58-YEAR-OLD motocross rider was airlifted to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition near Yabba Creek.

12.58PM: A BAREBACK rider at Imbil's Mary Valley Show was taken to hospital after being thrown from his mount in the rodeo area of the show.

12.15PM: TWO men were lucky to escape with only minor injuries on Saturday afternoon after their car spun out of control and caught on fire at Rammutt Rd at Chatsworth.

3.04PM: A MAN in his 50s was transported from Lower Wonga to the Gympie Hospital after a single vehicle motorbike crash on Gympie Woolooga Rd. He suffered a head and arm injury.

4.17PM: A MAN in his 30s was airlifted to the Princess Alexander Hospital in Brisbane in a stable condition after his motorcycle he was riding crashed on the western side of the Burnett Hwy at Tansey. The man was treated for a head injury and possible spinal injury.

4.36PM: EMERGENCY crews attended another single motorcycle crash on Portas Rd, Upper Glastonbury. A man in his 30s was transported to Gympie hospital with lower back pain.

6.37PM: A PERSON injured by an axe to the foot on Yabba Creek Rd, Imbil was taken in a stable condition to Gympie Hospital, Yabba Creek Rd, Imbil

SUNDAY:

1.34AM: A MAN was hit by a car on Little Bella Creek Rd at Bella Creek near Imbil in the early hours on Sunday morning. The male, believed to be in his 30s, was airlifted to Royal Brisbane Hospital with a chest injury. His condition was unknown.

11.25AM: AN elderly man and woman were seriously injured when a car reversed at Mitre 10. The man, 84, had his leg caught near the wheel and the woman was knocked over and dragged by the passenger door.

6.44PM: TWO vehicles crashed on Bauple Woolooga Rd, 20km from Woolooga. Two males were assessed for industries but not transported to hospital.

7.02PM: AMBULANCE officers were called to a single vehicle crash on Tin Can Bay Rd at Wallu. The car had crashed into a bush, but the two occupants did not require transfer to hospital.
